The new LanderLab website needed a face for its AI. Not a robot and not a chat bubble: a ball of light in the LanderLab colours, violet, sky blue and aqua, under two stage lights.
In the first Figma version the ball held three sparkle icons. I took them out, so the ball itself is the sign of AI, and put it on a darker stage with a field of dots that it lights up.
Now it is alive. It rests and floats. When you talk, its edge moves with your voice and rings run in through the dots. When it thinks, it turns violet and a light runs round the inside. When it answers, it pulses and the rings run out. Pick a state under the ball, or click the ball.
It is drawn live with WebGL, so the glass, the rim and the reflections of the two lights stay right while it moves.
